Saul, Christian
 

Christian Saul recently joined the research team of the Business Area Data Representation and Interfaces at the Fraunhofer Institute Digital Media Technology as a PhD researcher. His work focuses on service-oriented architectures for working and learning environments. He received his Diploma in Informatics from the Ilmenau Technical University, Germany.

Schrimpf, Sabine
 

Sabine Schrimpf joined Nestor at the German National Library (DNB) as Scientific Assistant in 2007. Nestor is the network of expertise in long-term storage of digital resources for Germany. She received her master's degree in Publishing sciences at the University of Mainz in 2007. She wrote her master thesis on digital libraries (concept and structures of a European Digital Library in view of the challenge by Google Book Search). From 2002-2007, she studied Book and Publishing sciences, American studies and Literature at the University of Mainz.

Schumann, Natascha
 

Natascha Schumann is the Project Coordinator for Nestor - the German network of expertise in digital long-term preservation. From November 2005, she has been affiliated with the German National Library. Her key areas of activity are electronic publications, particularly electronic theses and dissertations within the framework of the co-ordination agency DissOnline. From 2002 until 2005 she was affiliated with the Department of Sociology at Darmstadt University of Technology, where she was involved in the development of an Internet portal for freely available social sciences resources. She has a degree in Social Sciences and further training as an information specialist.

Sierman, Barbara
 

Barbara Sierman (MA) is Digital Preservation Officer and Team Leader of the Digital Preservation Research Team of the KB, National Library of the Netherlands. She has worked at several IT companies as a Senior Consultant. She started her career in library automation in 1979 as a Library Consultant at OCLC-Pica. Barbara studied Dutch Literature at the University of Amsterdam. She has written several articles on Digital Preservation and participates in international projects, such as Planets (Research on preservation planning and OAIS), Driver II, and TRAC.

Spencer, Amanda
 

Amanda Spencer manages the Web Continuity Project at The National Archives. This project aims to solve the broken links across the central government web estate and will involve comprehensive web-archiving across government departments, agencies and NDPBs. She has a keen interest in 20th Century History, having recently completed a doctoral thesis on the Spanish Communist Party in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War, 1936-39. She is a graduate of the University of Sheffield, and has worked previously in mainframe applications development.

Steinke, Tobias
 

Tobias Steinke works in the IT department of the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbiliothek). He is an expert for digital preservation and involved in several standardisation activities in this area. He is member of the METS Editorial Board. Previously, he worked for a software development company. He has been Project Manager for the German National Library in the German project Kopal to build up a co-operative used long-term digital information archive. Tobias studied Computer Science at the University of Technology Darmstadt.

Dr. Sturm, des. Beate
 

This year, Beate Sturm joined the Research and Development Department at Goettingen State and University Library (SUB) in Germany. She made an internship in archivistics at the Archives of the Federal State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the School of Archive in Marburg (Germany). Beate holds a Ph.D in Early Modern History. She studied History, French, Political Science and Education in Hanover (Germany) and Rouen (France).

von Suchodoletz, Dirk
 

Dirk is an Assistant at the Professorship of Communication Systems of the Institute for Computer Science at Freiburg University. He completed his PhD thesis on long-term preservation of dynamic digital objects in July 2008. The workgroup at the professorship became involved in preservation research projects through the Koninklijke Bibliotheek and joined the PLANETS project in 2006. Dirk studied Maths, Economics and Politics at the Georg August University Goettingen and received a Diploma in Mathematics in year 2002. During his student days he was engaged in network planning and setup in student dormitories and as a lecturer for computer networks and Linux for several educational institutions.
