Tour 1: UNESCO Stroll through the Old Town

Come along and discover the Swiss capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site at its beautiful best.

Tour 2: Einstein and the time - E = mc2
Einstein’s Theory of Relativity gave us a new way of looking at the world, putting a new perspective on absolute time. Learn about interesting parallels between precise time measurement and Einstein’s definition of time. Your tour will begin at the Clock Tower (Zytglogge), where Caspar Brunner’s clockwork has been ticking for over 600 years. We will then make our way to the Einstein House together. There, you will learn more about the life and thought of Albert Einstein, and his famous formula: E = mc². Immerse yourself in this fascinating world!

Tour 3: Bear Park Bern
Bears have been kept in Bern since 1513. Until 1857 they were in the city itself, then in the bear pit and, from 2009, in the BearPark. We offer you an exciting tour around the bear park. Under professional guidance you visit the site, learn exciting facts about the history and significance of the Bear Pit, the Bear Park Bern, about keeping bears, their biology, and especially about our three Bernese bears. You also get a look behind the scenes, where the bears lived in earlier years.

Guided tours Swiss National Library
Registration for the guided tours is closed.
The Swiss National Library collects printed and electronic publications with a link to Switzerland – today its collection numbers more than 5 million documents. The style of the library building dates from the era of "New Architecture" in the 1930s and it is now a listed building. During a tour of the building, you will learn more about this architectural style, and gain an overview of the Library’s mandate and activities. The tour includes an exclusive visit to the underground stacks which are normally not open to visitors.

Guided tours CERN
A special visit to CERN has been organised for iPRES 2016 attendees. The visit is limited to 24 people and subject to registration ("first come - first served"). You will need to make your own way to and from CERN and conform to the safety regulations that apply to CERN visits.
