Gildas Illien is Head of a new Digital Legal Deposit service at Bibliotheque Nationale de France. Since 2007, he has served as Technical officer and Treasurer of the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) and as director of the BnF Digital Library Department. He joined BnF as Web archiving Project Manager in 2005. Previously, he was Manager of Public services at the Saint-Denis University Library. Between 1995 and 2000 he was employed as librarian by the French Dpt. of Foreign Affairs and worked successively in Oslo, Norway and Vienna, Austria. Before joining the French librarian school (Enssib) he worked as Consultant for the INHA Art History library project. Gildas Illien has an academic background in Communications (McGill, Montreal, 95) and Political Science (Sciences Po, Paris, 93).
