Abrams, Stephen
 

Stephen Abrams is the Senior Manager for Digital Preservation Technology at the California Digital Library (CDL) of the University of California, with responsibility for strategic planning, design, and operation of the CDL's preservation infrastructure.  He leads the multi-institutional JHOVE2 project to develop a next-generation architecture for digital object characterization.  He was the ISO project leader and document editor for the PDF/A standard, ISO 19005-1; the architect and project manager for the JHOVE characterization framework; and the initiator of the Global Digital Format Registry (GDFR) project. Stephen holds a graduate degree in the History of art and Architecture from Harvard University and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Boston University.  He is a member of the ACM, ALA, ASIS&T, IEEE Computer Society, and LITA.

Anderson, Martha
 

Martha Anderson is Director of Program Management for the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) at the Library of Congress. She manages the capture of web content in support of the Library’s Digital Strategic Initiatives Program. She is the Library’s program officer for the Web-at-Risk, California Digital Library and the MetaArchive Projects.  She also serves on the Communications Steering Committee of the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) – an international organisation of 37 national libraries and not-for-profit archives dedicated to collecting and archiving significant web content. Early in the NDIPP program, she was a member of the Preservation Architecture Working Group and managed the Archive Ingest and Handling Test (AIHT).

Previously, Martha served as Project Manager for the Office of Strategic Initiatives at the Library of Congress working with preservation architecture projects.  During the first charter period, 2003-2006, of the IIPC, she chaired the Metrics and Testbed working group. During her tenure on the staff of the National Digital Library Program at the Library of Congress, Martha Anderson served in the roles of Manager of the Digital Conversion Group, Production Coordinator for American Memory historical web collections, Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) for the multi-year paper scanning contract and as the National Digital Library Program Liaison to the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress.

Prior to joining the Library of Congress in 1996, Martha worked in electronic publishing as Editor and Project Manager for a variety of CD-ROM reference products including Time Almanac and the Patrologia Latina Database.

Ashley, Kevin
 

Kevin Ashley is the Head of Digital Archives Department, University of London Computer Centre. For the past ten years, Kevin's group has worked on the preservation of digital resources on behalf of other organisations. Kevin represents ULCC on the board of the Digital Preservation Coalition, was a member of the Advisory Council for Erpanet and is part of the RLG-NARA task force seeking to develop an audit and certification mechanism for trusted digital repositories. He speaks frequently on matters related to digital preservation and management of digital content and has contributed to training through the Society of Archivists and the DPC, as well as other organisations.
